Harvey met my mother while I was starting college. We had many family gatherings in Dallas in the early years, and all the kids and grandkids from both sides got to spend some time together. They were married the same month that Randy and I were. Harvey came to Jackson Hole days after my daughter was born. He has been a part of my life, and my daughter Coral’s for over 35 years. The last 10 years, Harvey has been coming up to Colorado, staying a few nights at my house while visiting and living in Estes Park. He had a great time with my Colorado village and Margurita nights, or going up to Estes to visit Nikkies and his cabin.
While clearing out the apartment, I came across a book by Stephen Hawking.
Many years ago, I brought the book “A Brief History of TIme” to Florida and we were both hooked. Many memories flashed through my mind of deep conversations sitting out on the porch with Harvey over quantum reality, art, travel, philosophy, spirituality and much, much more. It was great to see a new Hawings book laying around.
He’s been a wonderful father and grandfather, but Harvey was more than just a step-dad, and a Pop for my daughter, he was a person that I enjoyed being with. When I called he always said "Hey kiddo". I will miss those deep conversations, his gruffy voice, his questioning "Weeellll", and his snappy sense of humor.
