Harvey Moss Young, passed away in his home on March 1, 2018. Harvey, the son of Robert Young and Margurite Moss Young, was born Jan 8, 1934 in Gradyville, KY.
He graduated in 1957 from the University of Cincinnati School of Design with a degree of B.S. in Industrial Design and began his career as Project Planner for Federated Department Stores in Cincinnati. In 1965 he co-founded Robert Young Design Associates in Dallas Texas where he designed projects for numerous Department Stores around the world. In 1982, he founded Harvey Young Design Associates where his clients included May Department Stores and Almacenes Paris in Santiago Chile.
Harvey was an active member and past chairman of the Royal Knights of Chivalry who presented him with the Royal Knights for Life award for his many years of dedicated service. He was also a past member and officer of the Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Counsel. In 1952,
Harvey married the former Carol Cutsinger and had 4 children. In 1987, he married Elizabeth (Betty) West.
Harvey is survived by his brother Robert Young, former wife, Betty Young, companion, Evie Chirnside, his sons, Douglas Young, Dallas,TX, Steven Young, Graham WA, Victor Young, San Francisco, CA, daughter, Hannah Lord, Capitola CA, and his step- children, Debby West, Longmont CO, and Donald West, Taiwan.Grandchildren include Chelsea, Sarah, Stephanie, and Althea and step-grandchildren, Coral, Maia and Amber. Great grandchildren include Cadence, Chord, Jack, Sam, Riley, Ian, Ryan, and Madison.His father Robert Young, mother Margurite Young, former wife Carol Cutsinger, and step-grandson Deuce preceded him in death.
Memorial
Thank you to Alan and Joy Stotsky for hosting an intimate memorial gathering in their home. Many Harvey stories were shared and you could feel how much everyone loved Harvey.
